We’re looking for a People Experience & Compliance Manager to join Steele Brand’s People Team!
You’ll own key programs — from onboarding to offboarding, leaves, compliance, HR systems, and benefits — while driving process improvements that help scale efficiently and thoughtfully. This role delivers practical and informed solution recommendations, and supports the development and implementation of best practices to maintain organizational compliance.
This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives on operational excellence, values people-first experiences, and enjoys collaborating across teams to make things work better.
Responsibilities:
- Own Benefits & Compliance Programs: Serve as the in-house expert for benefits and leave programs. This includes managing open enrollment, vendor relationships, and acting as the escalation point for complex cases.
- Manage Workers' Compensation claims, maintain accurate records of workplace incidents and interact with the insurance company.
- Manage Unemployment by reviewing, validating, and providing information for unemployment claims.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for our People technology, including our HRIS (Paylocity). You'll ensure data integrity, build reports, and continuously optimize workflows.
- Manage and improve our core People processes—including onboarding, off-boarding, and internal mobility—to ensure every step is seamless, compliant, and employee focused.
- Own onboarding execution and continuously improve the onboarding experience.
- Coordinate hiring workflows with hiring managers.
- Manage offer letters, pre-employment steps and onboarding transitions.
- Collaborate across teams to ensure accurate data flow and smooth handoffs for all employee changes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field.
- 5 years of experience in People Operations or as an HR Generalist with compliance responsibilities.
- Has worked in a fast-paced, growing company.
- Demonstrated expertise in benefits and state-specific leave laws.
- A track record of personally leading and delivering projects with autonomy.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to build trust with everyone from new hires to executives.
- A "roll-up-your-sleeves" mindset, comfortable with both strategy and hands-on execution.
Salary : $100,000 - $120,000
