Job Description
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Warehouse Associate is responsible for the efficient and accurate handling of incoming and outgoing shipment and for the accurate inventory management at Steelike’s warehouse located in Lancaster, PA. This role involves receiving, inspecting, storing incoming goods; keeping track of inventory; as well as preparing, packaging and shipping orders. To perform this role properly, you should be able to, or has the interest and capability to be trained, to operate a pallet jack and forklift, and have excellent communication skills, have proficient understanding of the full Microsoft Office suite, be agile at solving problems, and have experience as a warehouse associate in the past. Some of the activities that you will engage in are as follows:
Key Responsibilities:
RECEIVING:
- Unloading delivery trucks and verifying shipments against packing lists and purchase orders.
- Inspecting items for damage or discrepancies.
- Storing received goods in designated locations.
SHIPPING:
- Preparing orders for shipment, including packaging, labeling, and affixing postage.
- Selecting appropriate shipping methods and completing necessary documentation (e.g., bills of lading).
- Coordinating with carriers for pickup and delivery.
INVENTORY MANAGEMENT:
- Maintaining accurate inventory records, including tracking shipments and updating stock levels.
- Reconciling discrepancies and reporting issues to supervisors.
GENERAL WAREHOUSE DUTIES
- Organizing and maintaining a clean and clutter-free workspace.
- Operating equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks (once certified).
- Adhering to safety procedures and protocols.
COMMUNICATION AND COLLABORATION:
- Communicating with team members, supervisors, and other departments (e.g., customer service).
- Working collaboratively to resolve issues and ensure efficient operations.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of warehouse and forklift experience preferred.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good math skills with demonstrated attention to detail.
- Ability to work steadily and independently with minimal supervision.
- Able to operate, or to be trained to operate, forklift, pallet jack, and other standard warehouse equipment.
- Ability to lift between 50-75 pounds in a labor-intensive environment.
- Working knowledge, or willingness to be trained on, basic principles of inventory management.
- Authorized to work in the United States
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Willingness to be a team player, pitch in where needed and perform tasks to get the job done.
- Forklift certified.
- Natural curiosity and desire to learn.
