What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgery Scheduler position at Steindler Orthopedic Clinic PLC?
Description
- Schedule surgeries and related pre-operative appointments.
- Communicate information between the patient, surgical facility, and providers.
- Coordinate equipment and authorizations with vendors when applicable.
- Must be efficient and accurate with completing and faxing procedure/testing paperwork.
- Confirm surgery schedules and notifies patients of arrival times.
- Responsible for maintaining physician’s Outlook calendar to be current and up to date with their surgery schedule.
- Responsible for getting patient consent for surgery to the correct surgical facility.
- Schedule outpatient appointments that apply to surgery as requested by the physician(s).
- Obtain pre-authorization for surgery from insurance companies.
- Instruct patients on surgery and outpatient testing/appointments
- Address patient concerns on surgery and pre-surgical appointments
Requirements
- High School diploma
- Previous experience in a medical office environment a plus
- Previous experience with an EMR and Practice Management System a plus
- Candidate must be able to work well in a professional team environment, have excellent communication skills and the ability to multi-task efficiently.
