The Assistant Design Project Manager will support the Design Project Manager in planning, execution, and delivery of design projects within the organization. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills and the ability to assist in leading a multidisciplinary team. A willingness to learn Stellar’s standards and industry standards for Food and Beverage Design and Distribution facilities.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist the Design Project Manager in overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of design projects within the organization.
- Assist the Design Project Manager in managing a multidisciplinary team, ensuring collaboration and communication are effective
- Review Client design program requirements
- Review project proposal for scope, budget and schedule requirements
- Assist the Design Project Manager with Client invoicing and change management
- Assist the Design Project Manager in creating and updating the design budgets and design schedules
- Participate in project financial reporting
- Assist the Design Project Manager in managing outside design consultants as required
- Permitting due diligence
- Attend weekly Client and internal design meetings
- Assist in facilitating and scheduling Design Reviews
- Assist the Design Project Manager in coordinating the design team in providing technical support during construction
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong project management skills with the ability to lead and coordinate a project
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with clients, stakeholders, and team members
- Excellent collaboration skills to work with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to define project requirements
- Working knowledge of industrial building design and construction is helpful but not required
- Willingness to learn project management software and tools
- Ability to analyze and solve complex problems with innovative solutions
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and timelines
- Experience in budget management and resource allocation
- Leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in project management, engineering, architecture, or a related field
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in project management, preferably in the design or construction industry
- Preferred experience working in the food and/or logistics industries as a manager, architect or engineer.
- Experience in budget management
- Experience project invoicing and tracking
- Management of project or design schedules
- Skilled in project meeting planning, hosting and documentation
- Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar is a plus
Travel Requirements:
- Flexibility to travel on short notice for urgent business needs, to attend meetings, trainings, and events.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance during business trips.
- Compliance with company travel policies and procedures.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to use a computer, phone, printer, scanner, and other office equipment.
- Visual acuity for detailed work and computer use
- Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 25 pounds of files, documents, and materials.
