What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mathematics Curriculum Specialist position at STEM Greenhouse?
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the math curriculum specialist coordinates math activities, after school tutoring, supports math teachers, and is instrumental in math professional development for the organization. There is an emphasis on the students in our high school program, however, there will be responsibilities throughout our K-12 STEM programming. This position requires frequent communication and collaboration with school leaders, teachers, and other support staff working in the schools that we serve.
Key Requirements: Thorough knowledge of mathematics content areas, instruction, and standards. Extensive experience with urban youth, children of color and children in poverty.
Key Responsibilities: Maintaining and securing standardized testing data as well as internal evaluation tools. Work to build rigor in the classes our students take and research innovative methods of teaching math to improve student retention. Encourage student success in math through math teams, clubs and competitions. Coordinate speakers to inspire students to learn math for potential careers. Help plan summer learning opportunities for students. Work with teachers to recruit students. Work with parents and families. Create and implement exciting lesson plans to engage our student population. Collaborate with colleagues to support a culture of high expectations for student learning.
This position is full time but the schedule is flexible. Bachelor's degree in education or a STEM field is required. Pay is commensurate with experience.
