What are the responsibilities and job description for the Septic Technician I position at Stemmle Plumbing Repair Inc?
The Septic Technician I clean and repairs septic tanks, sewer lines, or drains. May patch walls and partitions of tank, replace damaged drain tile, or repair breaks in underground piping. Responds to emergency calls.
Operational:
- Clean and repair septic tanks, sewer lines, or related structures such as manholes, culverts, and catch basins.
- Inspect manholes to locate sewer line stoppages.
- Break asphalt and other pavement so that pipes can be accessed using air hammers, picks, and shovels.
- Cover repaired pipes with dirt, and pack backfilled excavations, using air and gasoline tampers.
- Respond to emergency service calls. Evaluate situation and take proper corrective action.
- Present findings and options to customers, providing advice as needed/requested.
- Complete approved repairs, improvements, or installations.
- Provide labor and material estimates related to septic service when necessary.
- Complete all paperwork required by management.
- Collect for work performed.
- Contact the office following the completion of each call, providing requested information regarding the work completed, and await dispatch instructions for the next call.
- Identify and suggest opportunities for quality and cost improvements.
