Stephens College is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to teach a course in Education. The class will be
taught in the residential program and meet for the standard 16-week semester in an online and/or
lecture format. The course will run January 10 – May 10, 2022.
Qualifications:
- Must have experience in teaching courses at the college level
- Ph.D. or equivalent in Education or related field, Master’s degree or ABD collegiate teaching
- Experience in early childhood literacy
- Evidence of communication and collaborative skills demonstrated commitment to working
with a multicultural population and an awareness of issues affecting women and minorities.
Course description:
EDU 454: Emergent Language and Literacy (3 hrs.) M 4-7pm (in-seat)
Students review theories and practices related to speech and language development, and complex
emerging literacy. Emphasis will be given to practical applications of language and literacy
development from birth through age eight. This course includes a special focus on English Language
Learners and the practices related to their learning. Students design, facilitate and evaluate literacy
experiences that support children in learning to read and write.
