Primary Purpose: Responsible for supervising pool activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Employment duties will include, but not be limited to:
Explaining and enforcing rules, regulations, and policies to ensure the safety of pool visitors.
Monitoring designated areas to recognize signs of danger.
Warning swimmers regarding unsafe situations.
Maintaining order in the swimming area.
Responding to emergencies and rescuing swimmers in danger of drowning.
Performing first aid procedures.
Administering CPR and/or artificial respiration, if necessary.
Keeping the pool, or other areas clean and free of debris.
Opening and closing the facility to visitors.
Responsible for keeping current with all Certifications and Training required to comply with the Lifeguard Certification Program.
Adheres to all pool safety standards, including safety procedures for adverse weather conditions.
Maintains a collaborative work environment and works well with others.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent GED is required. Current Lifeguard Training certification and current CPR and First Aid certification are required – must provide proof of certification. Prior experience as a lifeguard is preferred. Must be a strong swimmer. Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule on weekends. Excellent customer service skills. Must be able to withstand outdoor elements for long periods of time.

Working Conditions: Work duties performed indoors and outdoors, with frequent customer interaction. Work involves frequent walking; standing; lifting and carrying objects up to 30 lbs.; bending, stooping; may involve the operations of equipment in which manipulative skills and eye-hand coordination are important ingredients of safe and/or productive operations. Work may require infrequent exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
