Established in 2020, STEVE SMITH Trial Lawyers is one of Maine’s fastest-growing law firms.
We are seeking a paralegal professional to join our Family Law litigation team. Your primary responsibilities will include drafting and reviewing legal documents and pleadings; meeting with clients; managing scheduling; and helping our lawyers with trial preparation. You should have a working knowledge of the practice of Family Law and a desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong technology skills, and be highly organized and detail-oriented. This candidate should also have worked as a Family Law Paralegal or Legal Assistant for at least two (2) years.
Below are some of the responsibilities a Family Law paralegal professional is expected to assume in their position:
- Provide administrative, litigation, and ongoing research support to attorneys
- Compile and analyze data
- Draft documents including letters, complaints, and pleadings
- Serve as a communication liaison between the attorneys, courts, and clients
SKILLS:
- Minimum of two years of experience as a paralegal or a legal assistant
- Working knowledge of legal terminology and legal writing
- Highly motivated, enthusiastic, aggressive, and energetic
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
- Excellent legal research skills and familiarity with legal documents
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to build rapport with clients
- Ability to be self-sufficient and meet deadlines
- Able to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, Adobe, and Zoom
