Building Services Staff

Stevenson School is a PK-12 co-educational, college-preparatory, boarding and day school with two campuses in Central Coast California. The Upper Division campus (Grades 9-12) is located in Pebble Beach. The Lower/Middle Campus (Grades PK-8) is in Carmel-by-the-Sea.

Stevenson School seeks a Building Services Employee for immediate start. Typical working schedule will be Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., with occasional evening and weekend work expected.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for general cleaning-related duties on Stevenson School's Pebble Beach campus which includes dormitories, classrooms, restrooms and office areas throughout the campus. This position is also responsible for set ups for School-related events. This is a full-time, 12-month per year, non-exempt position.                                                                                          

Responsibilities Include:

• Clean, sweep, dust, mop, wash, and vacuum floors using brooms, mops and/or powered scrubbing or waxing machines
• Clean windows, woodwork, furniture and equipment
• Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture and/or draperies, using vacuum cleaners and or shampooers
• Clean toilet facilities and showers and maintain restrooms supplied with towels, tissue, soap and other items
• Collect and dispose of trash
• Perform outside work such as cleaning of walkways and washing of windows 
• Move/rearrange furniture
• Prepare rooms for meetings, conferences, or events involving setup of tables and chairs
• Ensure buildings are secure when facilities are not in use; check for unlocked doors and windows, report any unauthorized occupants, turn off lights
• Wear proper protective clothing/equipment
• Follow all applicable safety rules and procedures 
• Report non-functioning lights, locks, plumbing, etc. 
• Perform other duties as needed and assigned

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent
• Two years building services/janitorial experience preferred
• Bilingual English/Spanish language ability preferred
• Knowledge of general building services including housekeeping, cleaning, etc. 
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions 
• Ability to work independently and complete a daily work schedule 
• Ability to perform physical labor such as moving furniture and equipment, lifting, climbing ladders and stairs 
• Ability to do sustained, strenuous work
• Must pass a background check
• Annual flu vaccination is required for all employees unless a valid exemption is in place 
• Ability to work without supervision or as part of a team
• Willingness and enthusiasm to engage in a diverse community

Anticipated compensation: $23 - $25 per hour
