Summary:
The Coordinator, Athletic Communications will assist the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications with the internal and external media distribution for Stevenson University's Athletic department. Reporting to the Assistant AD, the Athletic Communications Coordinator supervises Student Employees during game day management of the scorer's table/press box and serves as the primary athletic contact for select programs. The Coordinator will also assist in the video production of live sporting events, video highlights, features and media day content. Evening and weekend hours in all types of weather are kept, as coverage for athletic events is a necessity and some travel with teams is expected.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor Degree in related field plus 2 years of sports information or athletics video production experience with experience in web design, NCAA LiveStats, Stat-crew, Social Media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter,etc.), Adobe and other publishing software preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must be a self-starter with unquestionable integrity and a strong sense of professional ethics.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills; strong command of grammar and English usage to include accuracy in proofreading, composing correspondence, editing, and typing.
  • Ability to research, compose, proofread and identify suggested edits to drafts for special occasion presentations.
  • Skill in prioritizing workflow and managing resources.
  • Information research, analysis, and evaluation skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in technical and computer skills including MS Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, , Web Design, NCAA LiveStats, Stat-Crew, Adobe Creative Suite, the Internet and other relevant software, plus operation of standard office equipment.
  • Knowledge of video production utilizing Newtek Tricaster, Production Truck and NDI workflows.
  • Proficiency in new social media and file management software including technical and computer skills related to the fully utilization of the marketing tools including, but not limited to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve minor issues with portable and peripheral office/business tools.
  • Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions on sensitive, confidential issues and the ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Knowledge of the University structure, policies and procedures or ability to acquire knowledge in a short period of time.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to travel.



Physical Requirements:
Light Work: Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Position involves both inside, outside, and sedentary work. Evening and weekend hours in all types of weather, with travel between campuses necessary. Lifting required (i.e., set-up of scorers table, etc.), some manual labor is expected. Because of the location of athletic facilities on each campus, organizing and some transportation between campuses is expected.

Essential Functions:
  • Serve as part of the Athletic Communications staff with the media and other sports information end-users for the 28 mens and womens varsity sports and club sports
  • Assist the Assistant Athletic Director in all aspects of sports information, including but not limited to: design and maintenance of athletics web site; production of game programs; recruitment and supervision of student assistants; the writing of several department publications including recruiting literature for individual sports teams; management of press box/table, statistics and reporting of results; promotion/nomination for various national and conference awards; recording and archiving of school records and serving as primary athletic department media liaison with the NCAA and each of our member conferences.
  • Serve as a secondary athletic communication contact for select programs assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director.
  • Directly responsible for maintenance of current and historical team information (rosters, statistics, previews, recaps, records, photos, videos) for assigned sports.
  • Produce and edit videos in accordance with institutional objectives and schedules under the direction of the Assistant Athletic Director.
  • Provide daily information to coaches and administration regarding sports info, media, web-design, etc.
  • Assist in the hiring, interviewing, oversight and supervision of student workers and interns assigned to game day coverage.
  • Be available to travel with teams and work nights, weekends, and holidays, as necessary.
  • Serve on committees as assigned.
