Within our interior door division, our door manufacturing plant in Richmond, Virginia is seeking a versatile, multi-skilled industrial maintenance Manager. With primary responsibility for controls / PLC’s, this team member will perform the full spectrum of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic maintenance tasks necessary to repair, maintain, upgrade, and optimize the performance and continuous availability of metal cutting, stamping, and forming machinery and all other equipment, machinery, and systems necessary to the functioning of the plant.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Controls / PLC’s
- This team member will have primary responsibility for controls, including:
- Troubleshooting, debugging, editing, updating, and upgrading of code/programming
- Maintenance, repair, updating and upgrading of all hardware
- Primary focus on programmable logic controllers (PLC’s), but also including PAC’s, HMI’s, and relays
- Design, program, and implement HMI/PLC on manufacturing equipment.
- Troubleshooting of electrical, PLC, and HMI systems.
- Assist in installation of new systems.
- On an ongoing basis the work will require the application of knowledge of and skill in the application of ladder logic.
- Controls supported will include Allen Bradley, Siemens, and Kval.
- While the bulk of the PLC work will involve debugging and editing, we anticipate that there will be opportunities to write new programming, select new hardware, and contribute expert guidance to decisions regarding controls-related capital improvements.
- Team with engineering, quality, safety, and operations leadership to optimize controls and machinery.
Mechanical / Hydraulic / Pneumatic
- Maintain and repair manufacturing equipment, including but not limited to metal cutting, forming, and stamping machines.
- Maintain and repair motors and pumps.
Electrical / Electronic
- Troubleshooting and upgrading of electrical / electronic equipment.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards.
- Create wiring diagrams for production floor.
General Maintenance
- This team member will be responsible for preventive maintenance, including but not limited to:
- Inspection and replacement of wearable machine components.
- Lubrication
- Following preventive maintenance schedule and recording preventive maintenance activities.
- Efficiently completing repairs to optimize machine availability.
- Recording repairs in maintenance management system.
- Ability to demonstrate sound methodology in providing long-term resolution to equipment failures.
- Work from mechanical and/or electrical schematic, sketches manuals, specifications, and written and oral instructions.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or equivalence required.
- Accredited technical degree and/or controls/automation/PLC-related certification strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical and electrical production equipment maintenance in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of PLC experience preferred.
- Ability to read schematics, Auto CAD, and Allen Bradley strongly preferred.
- Experience troubleshooting controls / PLC software and code. Solid understanding of ladder logic.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
