Below, you’ll find other important information about this position. Basic Function of Position: Responsible for relief work on any food service worker position assigned. Responsibilities are those of the particular position being worked and are individually displayed in the job breakdown sheet that is posted in each work area. Sanitation and quality assurance responsibilities are similarly transferred to the position being worked. Duties and Responsibilities: Read and understand menus. Portion foods with utensils correctly Wash dishes, pots and pans, clean tables, work areas and stations. Follow all sanitation rules and regulations for safe food handling Put stock away as it comes in. Display proper use of equipment and adheres to safety rules and regulations. Serve meals to residents in allotted time frames in a respectful and caring way. Exhibit stewardship by avoiding food wastes. Follow work sheets to prepare amounts specified. Assist in training new employees. Keep work area clean and equipment clean. Mop, sweep, and keep designated areas clean and sanitary. Use proper cleaning solutions in the proper amounts. Attend all mandatory in-services and meetings. Contribute suggestions and solutions to problems. Wear uniform according to department policy. Serve foods to patients and residents according to likes/dislikes and diets. Keep supplies stocked and organized condition at end of shift Must know how to accurately work dishwasher and refill Assist coworkers when necessary Prepare/serve food at proper temperatures. Makes patient late trays as needed Prep is responsible for preparing any items needed for cafeteria and also the Gran N Go station. Follow policies and procedures of department and facility. Report any problems, broken equipment or any other pertinent info that supervisor needs to act on. Properly label all food items that are stored and or opened. Knowledgeable of all duties required in the café area (cleaning, stocking items, register operation, etc.) Perform any other tasks as assigned by supervisor or administration. Previous food service experience preferred. Food Handlers Card required. Skills and Abilities: Must have the ability to work as a team member. Requires the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Ability to operate required equipment. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to adapt to last minute changes. Ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job. Courtesy and tack in dealing with residents/patients/staff and visitors Physical Requirements: Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Subject to stress and fatigue. Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination for easy and skillful use of hands when working with patients and equipment. Requires ability to lift items of various weights and sizes. Subject to repeated bending, squatting and stooping. Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal range. Requires oral communication with hospital staff and form perception to observe pertinent details. Requires ability to work where activities are characterized by frequent change. Requires the ability to safely operate a variety of food service equipment. Environmental Conditions: Exposure to undesirable environmental situations may arise from temperature extremes, chemical exposure, contact with sharp or hot objects, contact with hot steam and vapors, falling objects, slippery floors and contact with gas flames and electrical equipment. Some exposure to communicable diseases may occur.
