We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Family Law Paralegal to join our close-knit team. BRIEF DESCRIPTION
This is a temporary-to-permanent position with a 90-day probationary period. Upon successful completion, the position has the potential to transition to a hybrid schedule, allowing remote work flexibility for candidates who demonstrate reliability and independence. Additionally, you must maintain strict confidentiality in all client matters and demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, organization, and communication.
Key Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
- Welcoming clients and answering telephones professionally, as needed
- Communicating and corresponding with clients in a timely, professional, and compassionate manner
- Calendaring deadlines, hearings, and appointments
- Drafting legal documents, pleadings, discovery, and correspondence
- Legal research and analysis
- Preparing and organizing trial binders and exhibits
- Tracking deadlines and managing case timelines
- Corresponding with local courts, court reporters, and process servers
- Filing legal documents electronically and in-person
- Opening and closing client files
- Billing, tracking time, and maintaining accurate billable hours
- Performing other administrative and legal duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a family law paralegal
- The ability to work full-time
- The ability to work independently
- Paralegal certification preferred
- Strong drafting skills and familiarity with family law procedures in Virginia
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and shifting priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Notary Public (or willingness to become one shortly after hire at the firm's expense)
- Professional, team-oriented attitude with excellent client service skills
- Ability to pass a background check
