STOR is seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to join our team and support the design, development, and testing of our innovative Mini-MAPTM technology for food storage and its accessories. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our manufacturing and design partners to ensure high-quality design and manufacturing. Your responsibilities will include creating CAD designs and drawings for manufacturing purposes, supporting in-house testing and validation, and contributing to the overall product development lifecycle.
RESPONSABILITIES
Development
- Assist in developing test prototypes and troubleshooting mechanical design issues.
- Validate components and assemblies to ensure product quality and functionality
- Create detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and fabrication documents.
- Design and prototype under direction of the Director of Product Development.
- Collaborate with the R&D team in developing key requirements and device specifications
- Iterate quickly on designs and prototypes to meet development goals.
- Integrate PCB and other electrical components into mechanical designs in collaboration with the electrical engineering team.
- Work with suppliers to create prototypes, review designs along the way and get input from manufacturing support resources.
- Ensure compliance with safety, electronic, and project-specific standards.
- Travel to partner factories (e.g., in China, Hong Kong, or the Philippines) as needed to support production activities.
Manufacturing support
- Design any special tools and fixtures required or create specifications for these for manufacturing processes
- Develop and maintain comprehensive manufacturing instructions, including visuals and translated guides for assembly processes.
Testing and Validation
- Assist in creating and executing device testing protocols.
- Perform testing and validation of product designs to ensure reliability and performance.
- Contribute to process validation efforts to optimize manufacturing outcomes.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- 2 years of experience in the design and development of electromechanical products (appliance design or consumer electronics preferred).
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and an understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM).
- Familiarity with plastics and metal design for manufacturing, and gas delivery systems is a plus.
- Experience working with industrial designers to balance aesthetics and functionality.
- Knowledge of integrating PCBs and electrical components into designs.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Experience with Asian manufacturing and willingness to travel is a strong advantage.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- Preferred experience in appliance design, consumer electronics, or gas delivery systems.
- Familiarity with ISO-9000 or similar quality-controlled environments is a plus.
