A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THE ASSISTANT WAREHOUSE MANAGER
Job Summary: Under the general supervision of the Warehouse Manager, the Assistant Warehouse Manager supervises and assists in day-to-day production and scheduling of work performed in the warehouse. The Assistant Warehouse Manager helps oversee the fulfillment (including picking, packing, etc.), warehouse operations, inventory, quality control, administration and shipping processes. They are also principally responsible for the management and accuracy of inventory and employee engagement. This leader promotes the values and the vision of the organization with a critical focus on warehouse operation.
Responsibilities:
- 1. Oversee Day-to-Day Warehouse Function and LMA (Lead, Manage, and Hold accountable)
- Supervise warehouse employees, directs daily warehouse activities to plan.
- Assist with and oversee all work that is set-up by the weekly and daily plans.
- Help lead the daily huddles and operational planning.
- Ensure all orders received are shipped same day and end of day activities completed.
- Coordinates staff and enforces standards and processes.
- Attends and participates in Warehouse L10 team meetings and 1on1s.
- Attends meetings in absence of Warehouse Manager and as needed.
- Assists with 555 quarterly performance reviews.
- 2. Warehouse Process Ownership and Training
- Trainer for all Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT).
- Maintains/updates training program and records.
- Updating and testing of warehouse processes.
- Training staff on warehouse processes.
- Oversees warehouse facility standards and maintenance of equipment.
- Ensure a safe and organized warehouse environment.
- 3. Maintain Inventory Control
- Coordinate and assist with cycle counts and inventory discrepancies.
- Co-lead annual inventory plan.
- Ensures physical inventory matches inventory in ERP.
- Coordinate incoming containers and logistics.
- Assist in FTZ management and inventory tracking solutions.
- 4. Intercompany and Customer Relationships
- Handling customer inquiries.
- Coordinating customer needs with other departments.
- Initiate and coordinate freight pick-ups and other special handling requests.
- Manage shipping companies, pick-up times, issues, etc.
- Coordinate decorator transport and deliveries.
- 5. Warehouse Functions
- Ensure accurate and timely picking and shipping.
- Assist with delivery and pick of product as needed.
- Work with warehouse manager to improve warehouse organization, work flow, and productivity.
- Arrange for regular removal and recycling, support recycling programs.
- Ensure proactive replenishment of product in bays.
- Returns and other daily activities completed.
