This position performs related custodial cleaning functions in support of the maintenance of county buildings and facilities, including the maintenance of a variety of floor surfaces. This position also participates in assigned grounds maintenance duties.
Second shift position, typical hours 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM Monday-Friday
- Performs monthly inspections of specific systems, as assigned.
- Cleans and disinfects public and office spaces.
- Cleans, disinfects, and restocks restrooms.
- Vacuums, sweeps, and mops floors; cleans carpets; strips and waxes floors as needed.
- Cleans windows and glass doors.
- Dusts furniture and other surfaces.
- Cleans and sanitizes door handles and counters.
- Empties trash receptacles and replaces liners.
- Assists with grounds maintenance duties.
- Cleans and maintains custodial equipment.
- Maintains supply inventory and completes supply orders list as needed; stocks supplies in closet.
- Reports safety concerns to supervisor and ensures facilities are secure after shift is over.
- Maintains floor care logbooks.
- Assists with snow removal.
- Changes light bulbs.
- Assists with painting as needed.
- Performs minor repairs on building systems and equipment.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
- Knowledge of custodial cleaning and maintenance principles.
- Knowledge of the safe use of cleaning chemicals.
- Knowledge of the use of cleaning equipment.
- Knowledge of safe work practices.
- Knowledge of grounds maintenance principles, practices, tools, and equipment.
- Skill in the use and maintenance of grounds maintenance equipment.
- Skill in the cleaning and disinfecting of a variety of building environments.

- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
