Join the Stouffer Legal team as an Experienced Business Development Attorney (Senior Attorney) and partner with clients to serve their families and secure their future! No previous estate planning experience is required. The salary range for this position is $135,000 - $150,000. We hiring multiple positions in our Towson, Maryland office and our Annapolis, Maryland office.

Qualified candidates must be licensed to practice law in Maryland, or eligible to do so in a reasonable timeframe.

Our Clients

Stouffer Legal has a robust marketing funnel and prospective clients attend a sales presentation in a group setting before being scheduled for individual appointments with our attorneys. Prospective clients are prequalified and when they meet with you, they're ready to buy. You don't have to find your own clients, or schedule them, the company will do all of that for you-your job is lead the initial meeting, listen to their circumstances and their goals, connect with them and earn their trust, close the sale, and collect partial payment.

We have the best clients! They are pleasant to meet with, and it's a joy to help them carry out their wishes and intentions with regards to preparing their estate for disability or death. Typical clients are individuals and couples who want to protect their assets using the trusted advice that Stouffer Legal can provide.

Our Firm

Stouffer Legal operates differently than most law firms, selling Estate Plans and associated services at a flat rate rather than racking up billable hours. And, best of all, we promote work-life balance with a 45-50 hour workweek. Stouffer Legal was founded in 2013 and has a culture of teamwork and mutual support. Once a month the company closes down our operations and has teambuilding and training events, such as scavenger hunts, field day, Topgolf, and murder mystery parties. We service clients in Maryland, Washington D.C., and Pennsylvania. Our main office is in Towson, and we also have an office in Annapolis (we are hiring in both locations).

Our Team

In this role, you'd be working with a team of 15 other estate planning and estate administration attorneys. Our culture is very team-based and supportive, with attorneys cheering each other on after they've closed a sale, and celebrating together when we've hit our weekly and monthly goals. Our attorneys see clients at our two offices - our main office in Towson and our newest office located in Annapolis. Please let us know which office you prefer!

Your Day

Your work hours will be 8:00a-5:30p Monday through Friday, with an occasional schedule of 7am-6pm based on the needs of the business. No weekend work is required or expected.

Client meetings are scheduled for 90 minutes, and you will have up to 5 client meetings in a day. Client meetings are held between 10am and 5:30pm. Team meetings are held daily from 8am-10am and this is when you will have time to interact with your peers, building relationships, and receiving additional training and instruction from the leadership team.

This is not a remote position, your worksite would be our office located in Towson, Maryland or Annapolis, Maryland.

There is no drafting required in this position, our paralegals prepare the documents for your review. There is no expectation of court work or litigation.

You enjoy predictability and routine, and are able to see clients back-to-back, up to five 90-minute meetings in a day.

Job Duties include:

  • 18 hours a week meeting with prospective clients to sell estate plans and related services (Asset Protection Trusts, Revocable Living Trusts, Wills, Powers of Attorney, and Advanced Medical Directives)
  • 18 hours a week counseling clients through the estate planning process
  • 5-10 hours a week in team meetings and sales trainings
  • On a monthly basis:
  • All-day teambuilding event and/or team training day
  • Other duties as required

Job Requirements:

  • Law degree and licensed in Maryland or eligbility to be licensed in Maryland
  • 1 years of sales experience in any industry required
  • 3 years experience as a practicing attorney preferred
  • Able to follow our process and close the sale in the initial client meeting at a rate of 80% or better
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Beginner experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Teams) and Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience with Office 365, including saving files to SharePoint and OneDrive
