What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research Technician-Sequencing position at Stowers Institute for Medical Research?
The Sequencing and Discovery Genomics Team has an opening for a full-time Research Technician to provide high-quality DNA sequencing services to scientific laboratories at the Stowers Institute.
Responsibilities include:
• DNA sequencing on both Sanger and Next Generation Sequencing instruments
• Plasmid purification
• Performing PCR
• Use of liquid handling robots
• Maintaining equipment in proper working order
• Use of a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to complete daily tasks
• Troubleshooting Sanger and next generation sequencing results
• Logging and documenting maintenance, troubleshooting and tracking information
• Ordering and maintaining accurate levels of supplies
• Other duties as assigned
The successful candidate will have excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and customer service skills, the ability to pay close attention to details, superior written and verbal communication skills, good computer skills and be motivated to work independently while still working together as a team.
Minimum requirements include an undergraduate degree in biology, molecular biology, or other relevant field and prior experience in a laboratory setting.
