Strategic Staffing Solutions is currently looking for a Cloud Engineer for a contract opportunity with one of our largest clients located in Detroit, MI!
Title: Cloud Engineer
Location: Detroit, MI (Hybrid 3 days onsite)
Duration: 12 Months
Role Type: W2 Contract Engagement
Job Description:
As a cloud engineer, you will play a key role in the digital factory by setting the cloud strategy for the automation and the deployment of cloud infrastructure and services in support of application development and hosting (architecting, engineering, deploying, and operationally managing the underlying logical and physical cloud computing infrastructure). You will work on various product and platform teams to support a myriad of complex digital initiatives across the business and provide guidance to less experienced team members.
Responsibilities
- Leads defining standards (and/or selecting cloud vendor products) for Cloud Services in coordination with traditional engineering and network teams
- Manage and oversee DevOps automation including setup and configuration of CI/CD processes for digital factory products (Azure Pipelines preferred).
- Continue improving cloud product reliability, availability, maintainability & cost/benefit, including developing fault-tolerant tools to ensure general robustness of the cloud infrastructure
- Manage capacity across public and private cloud resource pools including automating scale down/up of environments
- Consult with Site Reliability Engineers and product teams around Azure recommendation and security center alerts.
- Support developers in optimizing and automating cloud engineering activities e.g. real time migration, provisioning and deployment, etc.
- Work with centralized teams to cloud and on-premise datacenters.
- Manage virtual networks, route tables, firewalls and NSGs.
- Owner of all Azure Cloud Infrastructure with special attention paid to those crossing cutting foundation. (eg. Shared Frontdoor, APIM, Event Grid, Service Bus, Centralized Log Analytics, and CI/CD tooling)
- Experience working in an Agile environment, experience with Azure DevOps (ADO)
Requirements:
- Experience developing and implementing cloud strategies for automating and deploying cloud infrastructure. You must have proven expertise in IaC (Infrastructure as Code) (Bicep/YAML preferred, but also ARM, Terraform, Puppet, Ansible, Chef)
- Experience leading the configuration, deployment, and operation of private and public cloud services (Azure preferred).
- Deep understanding of software development lifecycles and cloud economics, including knowledge of consumption-driven TCO.
- Experience creating and setting up of automated blue/green or red/black deployments to meet operational requirements of an application.
- Knowledgeable of the security implications of public & private cloud infrastructure design.
- Understanding of standard networking protocols and components such as HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, ICMP and load balancing.
Education
- Bachelor s degree and 3 years of experience in technology field.
