The System Operations Engineer plays a vital role in supporting the stability and performance of enterprise Linux, AIX, and DB2 environments, with a key emphasis on a core banking platform. Under the guidance of senior team members, this position contributes to essential systems tasks such as monitoring, maintenance, patching, automation, and upgrades—all aimed at maintaining a high standard of service delivery across client-facing infrastructure.
System Health & Operations
- Assist with ongoing monitoring and upkeep of Linux and AIX server environments.
- Perform checks on DB2 systems to support uptime, performance, and availability.
- Participate in troubleshooting activities and help identify basic root causes under supervision.
Patching, Upgrades & Security
- Aid in the scheduling and implementation of OS patches, software updates, and version upgrades.
- Work with senior engineers to apply security updates in accordance with internal standards.
- Contribute to upgrade documentation, verification steps, and rollback planning.
Disaster Recovery & Resilience
- Take part in scheduled DR tests and support efforts to ensure continuity of services.
- Help maintain disaster recovery documentation and procedures to reflect changes in infrastructure.
Automation & Technical Documentation
- Support scripting efforts for automation of operational tasks, such as system checks and backups.
- Maintain documentation for system configurations, troubleshooting steps, and operating procedures.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure system stability and up-to-date technical records.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline preferred.
- Equivalent professional experience will be considered in place of a degree.
- 3 years of relevant industry experience required.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Linux/AIX administration and upgrade workflows.
- Hands-on experience with DB2 upgrades, performance troubleshooting, and backup processes.
Technical Proficiency
- Familiarity with Linux (RHEL) and AIX system administration tools and concepts.
- Exposure to DB2 database management, tuning, and general maintenance.
- Understanding of virtualization platforms and basic cloud infrastructure.
- Foundational knowledge of system security, networking principles, and storage management.
- Experience with the KeyStone core platform is a notable advantage.
Certifications (Preferred but not required)
