A Benefits Leave Specialist is responsible for administering employee leave requests, ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant laws, and maintaining accurate leave records. This role involves interpreting leave policies, advising employees and managers, and coordinating the leave process, including return-to-work procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer leave policies for our U.S. and Canada locations. Ensure that leave policies are understood and followed correctly by employees and managers.
- Manage and coordinate leave requests. Track and manage various types of leave, such as vacation / paid time off, sick leave, FMLA, maternity leave, voluntary leaves of absence, and other types of leave.
- Provide guidance and support to employees and managers regarding leave policies and procedures.
- Coordinate the entire leave process, including facilitating the approval, tracking, and documentation of leave requests.
- Facilitating continuation of benefits for employees on leave greater than 30 days.
- Maintain accurate records, keeping detailed records of leave usage, balances, and related information.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, provincial and local laws and regulations related to employee leave.
- Facilitate the return-to-work process for employees.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of leave policies and procedures.
- Work with internal stakeholders, including benefits specialists, HRBPs, payroll, and management to ensure coordination among all parties.
- Coordinate with Payroll for the statutory leave tax withholding updates annually and as enacted throughout the year.
What you'll need to succeed in this role:
- 4 years of experience supporting benefit coordination, and specifically leave administration
- Strong knowledge of leave management principles and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, effectively communicating with employees, managers, and other stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines and priorities
- Detail-oriented with strong customer services skills and ability to keep utmost confidentiality.
- Ability to perform high volume work timely and accurately.
- Ensures that deadlines are met and adapts to changing priorities.
- Proficient use of MS Office products.
- Proficient in utilizing HRIS and other systems for managing leave (preferably Workday).
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish is a plus!
