Summary:
Provides safe transfer, mobility, and ambulation using approved assistive devices and procedures to patients in the inpatient setting in order to facilitate and preserve patient physical function. Utilizes knowledge, concepts, and skills gained through their studies in the medical field to promote and implement early ambulation, with a goal of optimizing patient mobility and outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications:
Formal Education Required
- High school diploma or GED
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate student in a medical related field (therapy, medicine, exercise physiology,etc.) required.
- Successful completion of Summa’s orientation and competencies for the role
- Must attain American Heart Association basic life support certification during initial training period and maintain certification thereafter.
- Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
- Ability to be self-directed in executing responsibilities and duties as assigned.
- Ability to understand and carry out the vision of patient care at Summa: to create a patient care environment that is focused on the needs and expectations of the patient, our customer
- Assumes accountability for demonstrating behaviors consistent with the Summa Standards of Behavior and Commitments.
- Must be able to stand/walk for an extended period of time. Frequent pushing, pulling, and lifting of patients as well as cleaning of equipment is required.
- Exerts 50-100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.
- Ability to lift and transport patients and equipment as position requires
- Potential for exposure to communicable disease, potentially hazardous substances, blood and body fluids.
Salary : $29,500 - $37,400
