We are Summit Design and Engineering is seeking a Survey Party Chief with experience in all types of surveys, including, but not limited to, construction staking, as-builts, ALTA, topographic, boundary, subdivision and NCDOT location surveys.

Responsibilities:

• Perform topographic surveys, boundary retracement surveys, ALTA surveys, as-built surveys, and construction staking surveys
• Plan and coordinate the efforts of the survey crew and motivate them to accomplish the work safely, correctly and efficiently
• Operate robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, levels, and data collectors
• Assist with survey computations and data collection
• Train junior survey technicians in the use of survey equipment, survey methods and safety standards
• Ensure the accuracy and production of the survey crew
• Communicate with other field surveyors as well as property owners and contractors
• Clean, check, and adjust survey equipment

Skills and Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• A minimum of four years of progressive field survey experience working under a licensed surveyor
• GNSS and robotic survey experience
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, maps and specifications
• Ability to take survey notes and make field sketches/drawings
• Good time management and problem-solving skills
• Ability to use Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook
• High reliability with excellent communication and leadership skills
• Must be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain and be able to stand up to 12 hours a day on occasion
• Must have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel and twist, use hands to grasp and arms to reach, to raise hands above head, to sit, climb and balance and to work in confined spaces and heights
• Must be able to lift and carry up-to 50 pounds, on regular basis oer rough/uneven terrain
• Must have adequate vision to perform survey tasks and the ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
• Valid Driver's License with a good driving record and ability to drive

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• Associate or Baccalaureate degree preferred
• NSPS Certified Survey Technician (CST) Level III certification preferred
• Basic CAD skills (Autodesk AutoCAD preferred)
• Drone (UAV) survey experience
