What are the responsibilities and job description for the Carpenter/Laborer position at Summit Logistics Inc.?
Summary
Summit Logistics maintains Interior Alaska's largest inventory of Office/Break trailers and is a top tier designer/manufacturer of custom modular buildings and trailer/conex conversions for remote extreme environment applications (mining/oil & gas/millitary/etc.). The Carpenter / Laborer maintains the rental fleet and supports all elements of new building/conversion fabrication and any other tasks as required. Modules are constructed year round in our 10,000 sqft heated facility.
Core responsibilities
1. Maintaining rental fleet of office/break trailers (repairs/maintenance/cleaning)
2. Support construction of custom modular buildings & trailer/conex conversions, including;
a. Framing / sheathing
b. Door & window installation
c. Painting / Caulking
d. Sanding
e. Grinding
3. Support machines/equipment used in fabrication/construction activities (compressor, pneumatic tools, etc…
4. Load / Unload modules & Connex containers
5. Safely operate forklift / man lift
6. Ensure proper safety & incident reporting procedures are followed
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
1. Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in building construction work.
2. Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
3. Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse conditions
4. Ability to communicate orally and in writing
5. Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely
6. Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions
7. Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
8. Basic knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions a plus
Education, Training and Experience
1. Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work
2. Willingness and ability to perform manual work following verbal and written instructions
Work Context
1. Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and occasionally in conditions that include inclement weather, cold/heat, and exposure to dust
2. Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue and to effectively jump, sprint or throw an object
3. Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination
4. Noise level is at times loud
5. Must be able to quickly move arms and legs
6. Excellent stamina
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $40.00 per hour
