What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Assistant position at SUMMIT STREET SCHOOL?
Essex Westford School District (EWSD) has opportunities for full-time Preschool Assistants at our Summit Street School, beginning with the 2025-26 school year. The Preschool Assistant supports the teacher in ensuring a safe and enriching environment for young children. They assist with student behavior, record-keeping, instructional support, and communication with stakeholders. Additionally, they help with classroom setup, and safety measures, and contribute to policy implementation. They also play a role in assessing student progress, developing individualized programs, and providing overall support to students and staff.
Candidates with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:
- Associate's degree in early childhood education preferred, but not required.
- Experience with, and love for, working with preschool aged children
- Relevant experience in a school setting is desirable
- Knowledge of children with disabilities of special education students, and special education teaching methods preferred
- Holds or is able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification, training provided
- Able to effectively work without specific direction, and with minimal supervision.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
Pay: $22.43 based on experience
