What are the responsibilities and job description for the PC Technician position at Sumner County Board of Education?
OBJECTIVE: We are seeking a detail-oriented, experienced computer technician. In this position you will be required to support all computer, technical, and network installations for Sumner County Schools. You will also provide initial new user setup, troubleshoot issues, and work with the Networking and Systems teams to resolve issues, as well as maintain and update all current hardware and software programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)
Keep systems up-to-date through operating system upgrades while troubleshooting technical issues and system errors.
Provide end user assistance and support with computer equipment operations, printer configurations, security best practices, VPN setup, as well as other technical issues.
Assist with the design, implementation, and ongoing strategies for hardware upgrades as well as support for new curriculum software deployment. Provide in person, remote, and helpdesk support for computer issues as needed.
Evaluate connectivity issues, group policy, equipment, and software for proper setup and configuration.
Collaborate with Networking and Systems staff to resolve non client issues.
Document in detail all technology support requests, issues, troubleshooting steps preformed, and resolutions in the ticketing system. Perform data backups when necessary.
Install and update server systems and network system improvements as directed by Network and System teams when required.
Assist in maintaining accurate inventory lists for assigned locations. Maintain and standardize naming conventions for all county technology assists.
Receive, inspect, inventory, and prepare all computer equipment for installation. Image and install hardware and peripheral components such as but not limited to monitors, keyboards, printers, and disk drives when necessary.
Utilize commands to observe system functions and verify correct system operation.
Instruct end users individually or in a group setting in use of equipment, operating software, and manuals.
Perform on-site preventative maintenance on computer equipment and related peripherals as schedule permits.
Submit requests for purchasing spare and replacement parts for technology
equipment when necessary.
Answer inquiries in person and via the helpdesk regarding system operation questions.
Diagnose system hardware, software, and networking issues. Recommend and perform actions to correct issues based on knowledge of system operation in person or remotely.
Loads operating system and curriculum software manually and with command line or 3rd party automation software.
Complete required continuing education certifications through county provided online training.

Pay: $18.59 - $19.97 per hour
