The Home Equity Processor plays a vital role in improving the financial lives of Suncoast Credit Union members. Key responsibilities include processing 2nd mortgages and home equity loans. This individual performs all duties in accordance with regulatory laws, credit union and MI policies. An ideal candidate is a courteous individual who provides efficient service with the utmost concern for the confidentiality, security, and privacy of member data.
Responsibilities
This position requires the employee to register as a mortgage loan originator with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS). The employee will obtain a unique identifier from the registry before engaging in mortgage loan originator activities. The employee must maintain and renew the registration on an annual basis, provide updated registration information with the registry on a timely basis, and provide a unique identifier to consumers as required by applicable SAFE Act regulations and Suncoast Credit Union policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
- Administer tasks to meet all processing conditions associated with home equity mortgage loan approvals according to MI and credit union guidelines
- Perform verifications of employment, insurance, and calculations of income, insurance premiums, and loans
- Review and validate documents to support application data, including employment and income, analysis of tax returns, payment history, liabilities, and real estate owned
- Obtain corrections and written explanations for any material discrepancies from the original application
- Review title insurance commitments/O&E's, AVM's and appraisals, surveys for accurate information
- Verify adequate hazard and flood insurance coverage
- Update the loan origination system with verified information and dates to ensure complete and accurate tracking of documents
- Maintain close communication with all parties involved in the mortgage transaction to ensure timely fulfillment of documentation requirements and established SLA’s
- Conduct phone calls and electronic communications with mortgage applicants to answer questions in accordance with established performance standards and benchmarks
- Follows-up with members and vendors within prescribed time frames for previously requested information in order to meet closing benchmarks.
- Review redisclosure documents and verify the accuracy of items such as loan amount, loan term, rate, and closing costs
- Review daily loan queue views to ensure files are worked according to established performance standards and timeframes
- Assist service centers with questions regarding mortgage applications in the processing stage
- Attend educational events to increase professional knowledge
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 years of mortgage processing or closing experience
- Fannie Mae experience preferred
- Ability to work evening hours outside of normal operating hours
- Ability to prioritize tasks, deal effectively with competing and changing priorities to meet deadlines
- Accurate, detail-oriented, and organized with task management
- Ability to analyze and resolve routine problems or situations
- Knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance necessary to successfully perform job responsibilities
- Proficient written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with members, staff, vendors, and government regulators
- Ability to communicate information requiring explanation or interpretation
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
