Summary

The Trainer at Sunny Glen Childrens Home will be responsible for supporting the training department in partnership with Staff Development Coordinator and Lead Trainer. Trainer is responsible to provide support of the training department and ensure that all staff have the necessary certifications and continued trainings to meet the needs of Sunny Glen Childrens Home. The Trainer will promote the mission and vision of the Program and of Sunny Glen Childrens Home. The Trainer is to promote a positive training environment where employees have the opportunity to enhance their professional growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include the following. Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Trainer will implement and support in development of training courses as required by State Licensing Standards and ORR requirements.
  • Trainer will ensure effective communication and collaborate with leadership in the execution and direction of required trainings for all Sunny Glen Childrens Home staff.
  • Ensure training materials and locations are organized and prepared prior to all Sunny Glen Childrens Home trainings.
  • Maintain employee training records and safekeep all attendance records of scheduled trainings.
  • Assist in development of an annual training calendar and distribute to all Sunny Glen Childrens Home staff upon approval by the Program Director and Staff Development Coordinator.
  • Enroll new employees into Paycoms web-based training in order to track and record completion of required trainings for all Sunny Glen Childrens Home staff.
  • Ensure all employees are in compliance with Sunny Glen Childrens Home, state and federal training requirements.
  • Meet with employees requiring additional training and coaching services.
  • Utilize methods to enhance professional skills in preparation for trainings.
  • Create a safe and inclusive learning environment of respect and rapport to ensure a positive learning experience for all Sunny Glen Childrens Home staff.
  • Attend all organizational required trainings.
  • Create, identify, and attend workshops that will enhance professional skills in the area of education, direct supervision, vocational, OSHA, HIPPA, and other topics deemed appropriate by program director or designee.
  • Attend and become a certified instructor for First Aid/CPR and Handle With Care (HWC) that promotes Effective Behavioral Intervention (EBI).
  • Attend all departmental and program meetings to ensure that up-to-date information is received and/or information of policy changes or practice are adhered to.
  • Must assist in the evacuation of youth as needed due to inclement weather conditions, natural disasters, or other unforeseen occurrences.
  • Travel as needed for trainings, conferences or to transport youth to destinations within the U.S.
  • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelors Degree

1 year of training experience

Bilingual (English and Spanish)

Language Skills

Bilingual (English/Spanish). Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office, Paycom, and Electronic Case Management software.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Current & in good standing LPC, LMSW, LMFT or other (if licensed)

Valid Texas Drivers License with an excellent driving record.

CPR/First Aid, 15 passenger van, Handle with Care, TBRI, case management software, Paycom, and other DFPS mandated training (trainings offered on the job.)
