What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Sunrise Family Medical?

Sunrise Family Medical is a fast-growing privately-owned practice located in Happy Valley, OR. We are currently looking for a Medical Assistant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate must be reliable, well spoken, organized, able to multi task effectively and have previous patient care experience. Fluent in English and Ukrainian or Russian due to high volume of Slavic patients in a practice.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations
  • Interview patients and record medical history and purpose of visit in electronic medical chart
  • Take vitals and document completely and accurately
  • Update patient's chart, medications, allergies, relative health maintenance information at time patient is roomed
  • Prepare equipment, instruments and supplies in room for provider exam
  • Assist the doctor during biopsy and other procedures
  • Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt
  • Autoclave instruments according to OSHA standards
  • Answer the telephone lines with courtesy and professionalism
  • Communicate with insurance companies to verify patient’s eligibility and obtain prior authorizations
  • Handle patient and pharmacy calls including prescriptions and questions from patients
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Current Oregon State Medical Assistant-Certified credential preferred
  • Current BLS CPR certification
  • Previous patient care experience
  • Experience using EMR software and patient scheduling systems
  • Fluent in English and Ukrainian or Russian
