Job Overview:
Area Manager manages and leads retail store managers in each geographic area to maximize sales and profitability. Develops and implements policies for area stores. The Area Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. Area Manger is responsible for training of all retail positions on processes and procedures. Has full authority over personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of the function of the department processes. Reports directly to the Director of Operations.
Job Description:
Business Development:
- Research and build relationships with employees
- Present business development training and mentoring to Store Managers
- Inventory Control and sku rationing
- Category Management implementation as directed by upper management
- Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on business trends with a view to developing new services, products, and distribution channels
- Identify opportunities for campaign, services, and distribution channels that will lead to increase in sales
- Assist stores in identifying opportunities to grow the business and improve sales based on store’s demographics and category management
- Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiator
- Guide Stores to develop and execute strategies to drive sales and customer counts and conform to budgetary requirements
Management:
- Ensures stores are visually enticing, neat, clean, organized and sales signs are displayed and accurate
- Ensures consistency in the market through store visitation; travel through assigned territory daily to meet with store team
- Effectively communicate corporate direction, new policies, initiatives, and procedures
- Lead and assist Store Managers in maximizing positive results through ongoing, proactive and effective communication
- Foster an environment of open communication will all staff to ensure positive employee morale, effective conflict resolution and flow of creative ideas for the benefit of the company and its employees
- Supports and adhere to all company policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Ensure all team members represent Lee’s Discount Liquor in the best light
- Engages the store teams in a manner that is respectful and professional
- Provides feedback and offer possible solutions
- Ensures a positive work environment
- Resolves personnel concerns fairly and in a timely fashion
- Appraise subordinates on positive performance and assist with formal performance evaluations
- Interfaces with all levels of management and associates in a manner that promotes learning and mutual respect
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3 years of Retail Management experience
- Strong analytical skills and excellent at problem solving
- A skilled in Sales, Sales Planning, Closing, Identifying Customer’s needs and challenges
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Organized and detail orientated
- Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to multitask and work well while meeting deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to effectively utilize Microsoft applications, intermediate excel skills required.
- History of meeting or exceeding Sales Goals
- Must be able to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment and ensure timely completion of responsibilities.
