What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator position at Suntec Concrete Inc?
Job Title: Estimator
Primary Responsibilities.
- Download, organize, and file bid documents
- Review bid documents including drawings, soils report, specifications, etc.
- Provide accurate and detailed quantity take-offs for construction projects of various sizes and complexities
- Perform data entry of quantity take-offs into spreadsheets
- Preparation of project estimates using labor, material, subcontractor, and historical pricing information
- Prepare bid proposals outlining project specific inclusions and exclusions
- Complete General Contractor bid forms and provide pricing breakouts as requested
- Assists in developing, maintaining, and strengthening customer relationships
- Work with other office personnel to receive, review, and execute contracts
- Develop labor & material budgets for tracking of job costs
- Provide Schedule of Values to be used for billing of projects under construction
- Analyze & review project document revisions during construction to capture costs related to scope revisions
- Write change orders for revisions to project documents and/or additional field work requested
- Assists other team members in gathering and evaluating subcontractor bids
- Write contract agreements for sub-contracted work
- Track, review, and execute subcontractor change orders
- Resolve scope/pricing discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
- Prepare budget review, cost analysis, cash flow, and WIP reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing cost information and pricing trends.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (Construction Management preferred) or 2 years of relevant work experience
- Associate’s degree or trade school may also be considered dependent on other qualifications
- Experience utilizing construction cost estimating software and Takeoff Systems.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of general and subcontract documents, drawings, and specifications, construction means, methods and materials.
- Ability to read and decipher blue-prints with a general understanding of other bid/project documents
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Projects, Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Detailed, organized, and self-motivated
- Desire and willingness to learn
