The IT Support Technician reports to the Associate Director of Technical Services of the SUNY Orange ITS Department. This position requires the ability to provide fast and useful technical assistance on Tier-1 and Tier-2 technical. This role is the primary point of escalation for all end-user, administrative, and instructional hardware/software issues. Must be able to communicate effectively to understand the problem and explain solutions, and organize and prioritize assigned workload. Must be customer-oriented and patient to deal with occasional frustrated users creating value for users that will continuously improve IT department customer service. This position will be required to travel to both the Middletown and Newburgh campuses as needed.
Job Requirements:
Education Required: Associate's degree in a computer-centered discipline with three years of required experience or five years of required experience.
Experience Required: Experience as a computer/desktop technician or related customer support role, experience supporting MS Windows 10 and newer, and experience supporting the MS Office or Office 365 suite of applications. Experience troubleshooting and maintaining end-user technology including PCs, laptops, projectors, televisions, and peripherals.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:
- Pertinent Bachelor's degree
- Ability to proactively identify tasks that need attention
- Aptitude for training and quickly developing new skills and knowledge
- Excellent multitasking, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong organization skills & ability to work independently
- Knowledge of IT software, hardware, and network setup
- Proficiency in remote desktop and helpdesk software
- Security certifications a plus

Salary: $44,431 - $58,872 per annum, commensurate with experience. This is a 12 month, Staff & Chair, Grade 30 position.
