We are seeking a PV Design Intern to join GreenSpark Solar for our 8-10 week summer internship program starting June 17, 2024! Under the direction of the Commercial Design Manager, our PV Design Intern will assist in developing and designing ground and rooftop commercial solar PV projects as well as the iterative process of adjusting designs to match real world conditions at individual project sites. This will include shadowing various Designers and assisting with multiple projects, such as the basic design and engineering of PV systems and how to coordinate a multidisciplinary project. This internship is local to the Rochester, NY region.
The essential functions of this position are:
Draft basic PV projects in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) or similar software programs.
Shadow Designers in their daily activities.
Assist with PV design projects, as assigned.
Attend weekly department meetings and monthly All Company meetings.
Attend internship activities and Design Department professional development opportunities to increase company and solar industry knowledge.
Network and participate in company events.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
These are our education and qualification requirements:
Coursework in engineering, sustainability, renewables, physics, or related fields.
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to collaborate and communicate with cross-functional teams.
Dedicated to producing high-quality work through passion, self-motivation, and discipline.
Attention to detail and self-proof reading for accuracy.
Able to work independently and prioritize a variety of tasks and demands.
These are our preferred skills
Solar PV, renewable energy, construction, or electrical passion and interest is a strong plus!
Experience with Auto CAD and GIS not required, but a plus!
Experience with Google Suite and Microsoft Office, preferred.
Internship Program Details
GreenSpark Solar Internship Program offers participants the opportunity to work in a professional setting while adding real-world experience to their résumé. Our interns will learn about GreenSpark’s approach to clean energy options and apply that knowledge through our business practices.
Our eight-week Internship program starts June 17, 2024.
A typical work day runs about 8 hours predominantly at GreenSpark Headquarters, with the possibility for some remote work. There may be opportunities for some job site visits.
Interns are responsible for your transportation to and from work and lodging.
