About Us:
We are a boutique immigration law firm in the Loop in Chicago IL. We handle family and employment-based immigration matters. Our clients are a combination of South Asians, Latinos, and others around the world. We are operating a semi-paperless office and most of our case work is done through cloud-based software systems.
The Job:
As a paralegal and client intake specialist, you will be responsible for managing the client experience from the first phone call, through the end of the case. You are expected to be able to operate our software system to access immigration forms for family and employment-based immigration matters. You need to be able to multi-task, and be very efficient with your time. You will cover for the attorney, hold client meetings and explain clients about your tasks. You will schedule appointments with clients to sign and fill out forms. You will assist clients in writing detailed statements and affidavits. You will research relevant case law when needed. You will manage emails, phone appointments, and in-person appointments with clients of various nationalities. You may be required to assist clients who are weak in their English ability. Essentially, you will be the "go-to" person for every client of our firm for anything except for legal advice. You will also answer phones and perform administrative duties.
Qualifications:
Must be able to type at least 40 wpm
Must be an excellent at writing and speaking English
1-2 years of experience with sales or in some highly client or customer oriented setting is preferred.
Immigration law experience preferred but not required.
Spanish-language skills are highly desired.
Aside from this, you have to be able to handle the following:
-Be competent with Microsoft Word and Open Office-Be competent with Windows system-Be comfortable with technology in general, such as operating a printer, scanner, and Windows computer-Be able to type fast-Be highly competent in using Google email, calendar, and researching on internet-Be highly organized and efficient. You have to know how to prioritize tasks.-Be able to deal with sensitive client issues, and work with difficult clients in a respectful and confident manner.-Be able to follow directions precisely-Have excellent writing skills (you will be writing memos, cover letters, client affidavits, and regularly communicating by email).-Have excellent phone manners.-Be comfortable working in a high end service business and asking for money.-Have a very positive attitude. Educational Experience- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent is a must.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
