Sweeney Controls Company, a family-owned, Fargo-based integrator, is seeking a Control Panel Technician.
The Control Panel Technician is responsible for the physical assembly, wiring, and testing of electrical control panels in our facility. The Control Panel Technician will build panels as indicated on drawings, including laying out and physically mounting devices to back panels and wiring per schematic.
The Control Panel Technician must be able to read an electrical schematic, and must be able to operate hand and power tools. Lifting up to forty pounds is required for this position. The Control Panel Technician is expected to take pride in their work, and pay close attention to detail. The Control Panel Technician must maintain a neat, tidy, and safe work area, and responsibly handle any tools or other property provided by Sweeney Controls Company.
The Job...
The Control Panel Technician plays a key role in our company workflow, owning the production and preparation of our end-product by carrying out the following core duties:
Meet our clients’ needs, and exceed their expectations, by delivering accurate, timely construction of control panels per the schematics and dimensioned layout drawings provided:
- Prepare for the build with accurate parts pulling
- Dimensionally lay out back panels and externally mounted devices
- Mount devices to back panels and enclosures using a variety of methods, including drilling and tapping
- Perform point-to-point wiring of internal panel components such as PLCs, relays, motor starters, reduced voltage starters, and VFDs
- Follow established electrical standards to ensure proper voltage, mounting, routing, and bundling
Keep it Clean by verifying precision on each and every panel, and by ensuring proper communication throughout the build process:
- Strive for error-free panels, validating work performed using a digital multi-meter
- Keep proper documentation of red-lines for any changes required during manufacturing
- Communicate thoroughly with the Technical Team following Factory Acceptance Testing regarding any errors found, and their resolution
Provide superior customer service and ensure a quality end-product for our client:
- Be a Hero to the Technical Team by fostering a seamless startup via orderly wiring, keeping safety top of mind
- Deliver panel wiring that allows for user-friendly access to the panel’s various components, for the life of the system
- Perform final cleanup of the panel, including any necessary panel cleaning or surface repairs
- Package the panel for shipping, verifying all items are properly wrapped and secured
Help drive our Vision, and fulfill our Mission, by performing other tasks as needed
- Travel to job sites as required to modify control panels, provide warranty support or generally assist in any onsite duties as required
Physical Requirements
- Standing for 1 hour or more at a time
- Finger dexterity in order to complete electrical wiring
- Grasping to operate hand and power tools
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Visual acuity necessary to operate hand and power tools and perform electrical wiring
- Must wear proper Personal Protection Equipment as required at all times
Qualifications
- 2-year degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology or experience in control panel construction
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
- Basic knowledge of electricity and electrical circuits
- Ability to operate hand and power tools
- Have a high quality standard and pay close attention to detail
- Ability to work as part of a team
