SUMMARY:

This position is primarily responsible for the production of Sweet Grass Dairy cheeses. This is a hands-on position, and the candidate is expected to be on the production floor 100% of the time.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• 60% Production
• Make cheeses following strict recipes and procedures
• Adjust to various flows of production

• 30% Cleaning throughout the plant
• Clean tools, parts, floors, and walls
• Clean cheese wheels

• 10% Packaging product
• Review the production schedule as needed
• Cutting wheels
• Wrapping

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Completing additional cleaning assignments
• Carry out all reasonable requests by management to assist in any area of the plant as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

Education:

• High School degree required

Certifications:

• HACCP a plus.
• ServSafe Certified a plus.

Computer Skills:

• Basic computer skills a plus

Other Qualifications, Experience and Competencies:

• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation.
• Knowledge of safety practices and procedures for cheese making equipment.
• Knowledge of and ability to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and ratios.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
• Ability to utilize strong problem solving skills and develop new ideas and solutions to problems.
• Ability to multitask and adjust priorities with a sense of urgency.
• Ability to exhibit attention to detail.

• While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required sit, walk, talk and hear
• Use hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
• Be standing on your feet for the majority of the workday in addition to walking back and forth.
• Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Lifting while turning side to side is sometimes necessary.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
• Must be able to work in a cool environment as well as a warm environment.
• Position sometimes requires extended hours including evenings and/or weekends.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• The work is performed primarily in a manufacturing and warehouse environment.
• Standing most of the work day is required.
• Work requires movement in and out of store rooms, and coolers
• Exposure to extreme temperatures (hot and cold) due to heating and refrigeration equipment.
• The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
