POSITION SUMMARY: The Grants Accountant is the main support position for funding agreements with assigned agencies within the Tribal Government. This position is responsible for setting up and maintaining accounts and audit ready files for assigned agreements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop general knowledge in all areas of the Finance Department
- Ensure all agreements and amendments/modifications are submitted to the repository timely
- Review and maintain all metadata submitted to the repository
- Ensure budgets are entered accurately and timely, and maintained throughout the budget period
- Maintain audit-ready financial records related to funding agreements
- Review expenses for allowability, allocability, and reasonableness of cost, and process journal entries to make corrections as needed
- Process drawdowns, revenue adjustments, and invoices timely, and record accounts receivable
- Reconcile revenues and expenses for budget period and/or grant closeout
- Prepare and submit financial reports as required by the terms and conditions of the award
- Serve as the primary financial point of contact between funding agencies and the Tribe for assigned agreements
- Provide accounting support to program staff as needed throughout the grant lifecycle, including grant kickoff and closeout meetings
- Assist in grant audits and grant compliance as needed, including assisting in preparation of the SEFA and final account reconciliation/year-end adjustments
- Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associates Degree in Accounting, Business or Similar
- 5 or more years of experience working with grants
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs, especially Excel and Outlook
- Proficient with 10-Key
- Experience with MIP Fund Accounting, Microix and Laserfiche is preferred
- Fund Accounting experience preferred
- Ability to work well with others. Able to interact with other teammates regarding work and willing to help those who need additional help
- Ability to work to external deadlines
- High attention to detail and accuracy
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND TIME COMMITMENT
- Work schedule is 40 hours per week. This is a full-time position.
- Tasks are performed mostly indoors in both a clinical setting and an office environment.
- Considerable time may be spent at a computer work station in the performance of administrative tasks.
- Work may be performed under highly stressful conditions, and may involve extended periods of sitting, standing or walking.
