The Development Associate contributes to the end-to-end process of project development. Tasked with supporting one or more projects, the Development Associate provides essential assistance in overseeing development aspects and maintains regular communication with company executives. Engaging with various departments, assisting design and construction teams, and actively participating in negotiations and relationships with external partners, the Development Associate plays a vital role in the collaborative effort to see projects through from inception to completion.

 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Support various phases of the development process from inception to completion.
  • Collaborate with various company departments (finance, marketing, sales, leasing, legal) as required.
  • Assist in supporting the design and construction team, as well as external consultants.
  • Contribute to the review and approval process of design progress, including residential unit layouts, unit mix, and base building architecture.
  • Attend meetings and contribute to the review of competitive product reports.
  • Work with the marketing team on the development of marketing and sales strategy.
  • Aid in obtaining approvals and entitlements from governmental entities.
  • Assist in interfacing with attorneys and the legal department in the preparation of offering plans and condo documents.
  • Provide support in key negotiations of partnerships, co-development, and other debt/equity partner agreements.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with external parties such as co-development partners, hotel operators, investors, tenants, etc.
  • Contribute to the preparation, approval, and responsibility for budgets and proformas.
  • Assist in the preparation, analysis, and upkeep of financial proformas.
  • Contribute to the responsibility of monthly project reports, schedules, budgets, and cash flow projections.
  • Assist in reviewing and approving construction draws, monitoring construction progress, and interacting with the general contractor and design and construction team to review schedules and change orders reports.
  • Contribute to the review and approval of all releases of funds to consultants, contractors, and vendors.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Real Estate, Finance or related field
  • MBA/Masters in Real Estate Development preferred.
  • Minimum 4-6 years of experience in urban, high-rise mixed-use development.
  • Local Miami condo and hotel development experience is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of the vertical construction process, including budgeting, bidding, product design, and construction management.
  • Proficient in Word and Excel, with the ability to create budgets, schedules, and reports.
  • Financial acumen to provide status, cost, and variance reports.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to produce accurate results and reports, communicating effectively with peers and management.
  • Ability to multitask and deliver results in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Effective time management and logical decision-making ability.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and business partnering skills.
  • Focus on quality, with a capacity to handle pressure.
