What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sylvan Tutor position at Sylvan Learning Center of Centerville, OH?
The Sylvan Learning Center of Centerville is hiring part time teachers for Reading, Writing, and/or Math. These positions are for after-school tutoring programs mid-day/evening sessions between 3:30-7:30 PM. Additional sessions are also provided on Saturday mornings. As a Sylvan Teacher, you will be trained on Sylvan curriculum and given the tools to teach in a small group setting (3 students max). No outside lesson planning or grading of papers is required.
The Sylvan Teacher is responsible for creating robust learning experiences for students and for evaluating student progress on each assignment. Job functions include:
· Greet students and initiate instruction to personally engage each student
· Instruct students according to the design of the Sylvan program(s)
· Evaluate and record the progress of each student on their program assignments
· Use praise and encouragement to ensure students are engaged and inspired to learn
· Motivate students with Sylvan tokens based on their achievements
· Communicate specific student needs to Center staff
Qualifications required for a Sylvan Teacher include:
· Four year degree or equivalent in a discipline related to a specific program
· State teaching credentials (current or expired)
· 2 years of teaching experience is preferred
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $14.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8 – 10 per week
