We are looking for a Functional Safety Engineer to join our Safety team within the Hardware R&D organization. Your job will be to ensure that the planning and coordination of functional safety activities are conducted and documented in accordance with appropriate safety standards, IEC 61508, ISO 13849, OSHA, NFPA and various applicable Type-C standards. Responsibilities include maintaining the safety plan and monitoring the progress of the safety activities against the safety plan. You will routinely interface/collaborate with multi-disciplined project team members, management, suppliers, manufacturing, and customers.

What You’ll Do
- Manage Functional Safety activities for safety conformity and compliance.
- Collaborate with project managers, development team and customers on Functional Safety
- Participate in the design process and provide professional feedback to achieve of the safety goal.
- Conduct reviews with product teams to ensure functional safety standards are being met throughout product development cycles.
- Travel up to 25% to Symbotic and customer sites.
- BS degree in an engineering related discipline.
- 2 years of experience driving product functional safety and compliance.
- Experience with functional safety standards and regulations.
- Experience with system engineering approaches (requirements engineering / management, functional analysis and allocation, architecture design, validation, and verification.
- Familiarity with development and quality process (FMEA/FTA methods/tools).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for internal and external customers.
- Strong documentation skills and practices.
- Ability to operate independently in a matrix organization and navigate complex business systems.
- Good technical leadership, planning and organization/control skills and approaches challenges with a positive attitude.
- Comfortable in presenting and ability to adapt to audience.
- Up to 25% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.
- The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
