IT Category Manager - Remote

Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as an IT Category Manager!

About the role

In this role, you will negotiate and procure IT-related technology, including Software, SaaS, hardware, professional services, Statements of Work, telecom, and all related peripherals. You will interpret highly complex contractual documentation, draft and negotiate modifications to existing agreements, and execute agreements. You will also generate market analysis, requests for proposals, perform competitive bids, lead contract negotiations, and support the business with ongoing supplier management and evaluation.

What you will do

• Negotiate, review, and draft moderate to highly sophisticated contracts, amendments, addendum, SOW's, and project statements.
• Independently interpret contracts for the enterprise.
• Review vendor proposals, pricing and terms and conditions.
• Primary liaison with Law Department for legal issues, while fostering a collaborative business relationship.
• Apply industry level benchmarking and relevant data for negotiations.
• Advise management of contractual rights obligations and risks. Ensure ethical process and approach is used during all contract negotiations.
• Perform Request for Proposals, competitive bids, market analysis and supplier evaluations.
• Construct and develop logical sourcing strategies and fact-based options.
• Provide standardized process and documentation for all sourcing engagements.
• Perform market analysis, price benchmarking and supplier risk assessments.
• Handle all bidder communications, negotiations and required meetings. Facilitate all internal meetings and lead sourcing evaluation process.
• Work closely with IT and Business areas, recommending and developing repeatable and consistent processes within the framework of agreements to ensure metrics, processes and procedures are in place, and implemented to measure vendor performance and ensure optimum vendor delivery, service, quality and pricing.
• Work to improve internal processes to increase the overall vendor management capabilities of the organization. Contribute to the overall sourcing strategy and roadmap.
• Develop collaborative relationship internal business partners.
• Maintain high level understanding of business and project alignments.
• Secure and adapt engagement models, based on business level requirements.
• Implement sourcing plans and strategies for key categories of spend.
• Maintain and communicate all contract renewal, renegotiation, and term notices.
• Procure IT/technology, software, SaaS, hardware, and professional services (PO's).
• Build Purchase Orders and procure goods.

Compensation

Salary Range: $100,300 - $167,100 plus eligibility for annual bonus program

Your experience and skills

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required.
• 3-8 years of contract and vendor management work experience, specifically in the IT area required.
• Experience working with IT operations sourcing providers required.
• Strategic sourcing and project management experience required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong collaboration and negotiation skills.
• Highly organized and detail oriented.
• Contract development, interpretation, and maintenance skills.
• Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Sourcing Professional (CSM), Certified Supplier Management Professional (CSMP), and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) designations preferred.
• Adept at problem solving and critical thinking.
