Job Description
The College Events Coordinator is responsible for the planning, coordination and implementation of all events within Falk College. The primary responsibilities will focus upon major Departmental and College-wide events involving current students, their families and faculty, such as coordinating Opening Weekend and Convocation. Responsibilities associated with such events, and those that are connected to University-wide events, include ensuring effective communication with intended participants, coordination of all logistics (invitations, catering arrangements, space set up, etc.) related to the events, and coordination with associated University offices. The Coordinator will also provide essential support to the Dean’s Executive assistant in the Dean’s Office. Candidate must work effectively as part of a team.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 5 plus years’ experience or equivalent in alumni affairs, public relations, event planning or related field.

Responsibilities
- Support functions of the Dean’s office supporting the mission of the college and the departments and providing assistance facilitating the major events within their areas such as opening weekend, alumni weekend and commencement.
- Act as primary back-up support for the Dean’s Executive Assistant.
- Maintain a master events calendar that is available/shared across the college.
- Schedule room assignments for events throughout the college.
- Train college staff regarding event protocols to be followed uniformly across the college including budgeting, caterings, communications, etc.
- Develop and maintain strong positive communication and relationships with Falk
- Alumni through events in coordination with Falk’s Dean’s Office, Office of Advancement, academic departments and Career Services. Work collaboratively with Falk Career Services, develop and execute programs for alumni to return to campus to assist students through mentoring, alumni panels, information sessions, lunch-and-learn sessions, etc. Reunions and special events for alumni, serving as primary liaison with Syracuse University Alumni Office and key organizer for Falk activities during Orange Central, Coming Back Together, and other reunion-focused activities.
- Collaborate with other offices within Syracuse University, e.g., Parents Office, Office of Special Events, Alumni Relations, Alumni and Donor Records, Publications, etc. to ensure effective participation in University-wide events.
- Coordinate with Department Chairs all special events as needed (such as the Social Work NYC field trip and reception, Child and Family Studies-Quality Child Care Seminar, Nutrition- Alumni Reception at national conferences, Marriage and Family Therapy Lecture Series, Sport Management- WISE Seminar, department alumni events, etc.); make arrangements for College’s dinner/sponsored table events (fundraising dinners/luncheons, commencement box, Arents dinner, CBT dinner, etc.).
