System Service and Engineering is a leading provider of Mechanical solutions in the Commercial construction industry. We specialize in HVAC, Plumbing, and Mechanical Systems. We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join out team! The Assistant Controller will play a crucial role in supporting our Controller and the company's overall financial operations. this position is responsible for helping manage financial reporting, budgeting, account reconciliations, and supporting job cost accounting processes withing the commercial mechanical sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Controller in managing the day-to-day accounting operations
- Oversee job cost reporting and help maintain accurate project budgets, tracking progress and analyzing job performance
- Collaborate with project managers and other internal teams to provide financial insights and assist with budgeting for projects
- Assist in the preparation with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and accounting principles
- Lead and mentor junior accounting staff, ensuring accuracy in their work and supporting their development
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in construction or mechanical services company
- Strong understanding of job cost accounting, construction contracts, and financial reporting standards
- proficient in accounting software
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, including advanced data analysis and financial modeling
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively across departments
