What are the responsibilities and job description for the Occupational Therapy Assistant position at T.I.C.A. Therapy Services, PLLC?
The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) will support licensed Occupational Therapist in delivering school-based OT services to students with a variety of physical, developmental, and sensory challenges. The OTA will implement therapy activities under supervision, assist with documentation, and collaborate with educators and families to support students' functional participation in academic and school-related activities.
Duties
- Implement therapy interventions developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Assist in the delivery of individualized education program (IEP) goals related to OT services.
- Provide direct services to students individually or in small groups within various school settings (classroom, therapy room, playground, etc.).
- Support students with fine motor skills, visual-motor integration, sensory processing, self-regulation, and activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Assist with the development and maintenance of therapy materials, tools, and adaptive equipment.
- Document student progress and therapy sessions in accordance with district and state guidelines.
- Monitor and report student responses and performance of progress to the supervising OT.
- Collaborate with teachers, aides, and other school staff to integrate OT strategies into the classroom.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of practice.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program.
- Valid state license to practice as an OTA.
- Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) is preferred, but not required.
- Experience working with children or in a school setting is preferred, but not required.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Job Types: Part-time, PRN, Contract
Pay: From $45.00 per hour
