Position:          Job Cost Analyst

 

Department:     Accounting     

 

Reports to:       Chief Financial Officer

 

Job Status:       Exempt

 

Job Summary:

 

T&K Asphalt Services, Inc. is seeking a Job Cost Analyst to manage all job cost-related functions for the company. Duties include developing and maintaining an accurate WIP schedule for all the jobs the company works on, and analysis of individual jobs for accuracy and reporting. The ability to develop high-level Excel queries to be used in management reviews of jobs and divisions is essential. Additional responsibilities include importing and posting budgets, equipment, and materials to be used in the job costing process.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

 

Ø  Responsible for gathering and posting all related costs for each job to be used in the analysis of job costing. This includes but is not limited to labor, equipment, materials, purchase orders, and budgets.

Ø  Produce a work-in-process (WIP) report for all jobs in the company. Review all job performance for accuracy. Reviewing gains and fades for jobs that have been completed. This requires collaboration with project managers and foremen.

Ø  Provide timely and accurate WIP reports for the company's performance. Allowing leadership to make decisions based on job outcomes.

Ø  Lead the review of performance on specific jobs and divisions in management meetings.

Ø  Assist in the development and creation of invoices for the winter division. This includes the setup of a control file which is used in the billing of customers' jobs based on contracts.

Ø  Develop and maintain high-level Excel queries to extract information from our different database locations and compile it into one master report.

Ø  Work with accounting to be sure invoices are tied out to the related purchase orders.

Ø  Update and maintain warehouse items to be used on specific jobs. This includes creating new items that have been purchased and also existing items in inventory.

Ø  Update and maintain equipment records in accounting to be used in job costing.

Ø  Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Major Projects:

 

Ø  Research and Development of Existing and New Excel Queries – Review and understand the workings of existing Excel queries that are being used on a continual basis. Create potential new Excel queries that may be needed for additional projects or reporting. Legacy queries and power queries are currently being utilized for these purposes along with pivot tables and lookups.

Specifications:

 

Minimum Experience: Candidate must have at least 3 or more years experience in a job costing-related role with posting and analyzing job performance. Prior experience in a mid-level construction company is a plus.

 

Software Skills: Must have advanced knowledge of MS Office products with a focus on Excel. Excel query creation and modification is a requirement for this position. Also, knowledge of accounting software and web applications is a plus.

 

Communication Skills: Verbal and written skills must be a strong point. Interaction with corporate and field personnel as well as senior-level management is frequent and is considered an important part of the job requirements.

 

Organizational Responsibilities: The candidate must have strong organizational skills relating to the formulation of work plans, setting priorities, and completing tasks. The individual must be a self-starter as most items they will be working on are not daily assigned tasks.

 

Decision Making: The candidate must be able to analyze situations, and understand the depth and breadth of issues. Decisions that are made are within a framework of directives, policies, and precedents. More often than not, the decisions affect not only the utilization of personal, and departmental time and resources but other departments within the entire company.

 

Problem-Solving: Problem-solving is a major component of the job. The breadth of problems can run from operational to financial from routine to complex. This is a big area where the advanced knowledge of Excel will play a big role.

 

Confidentiality: This position must maintain the absolute highest level of confidentiality as they have access to, and handle, highly confidential and sensitive financial, personal, and legal data regarding the company and its employees.

 

Job Environment: This position works within a typical office and work site environment with minimal physical risk.
