What are the responsibilities and job description for the Development Team Lead position at T-Rex Solutions, LLC?

The selected candidate will be developing products using cutting edge technologies as part of a large modernization effort that has significant industry focus supporting the General Services Administration (GSA). This position will involve close engagement with client to understand and realize their vision. In this role, the ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing and managing the delivery of products using cutting edge technologies (JavaScript frameworks, Serverless development, AWS services) and deploy in Cloud platform for large enterprise-wide use. The candidate will be responsible for translating overall conceptual solution to working software using Agile development methodology and DevSecOps. The Development Lead is expected to have extensive hands-on experience in software development, integration with different systems, software release management, and operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a cross-functional team of developers and test automation engineers and grow them into a high-performance team.
  • Hands-on role with extensive involvement in developing, implementing, operating and enhancing products.
  • Accountable for the quality of the product delivered and team performance.
  • Provide technical direction and mentor teams of resources in all aspects of technical delivery incorporating efficient workflows, frameworks, templates, design and code best practices to produce readable and maintainable code.
  • Implement the best practices of Agile and DevSecOps to deliver quality products predictably and consistently.
  • Lead the evaluation of functional/business and technical requirements and identify gaps/risks.
  • Review proposed enhancements to validate feasibility and assists with scoping and estimating work.
  • Serve as the technical and technology expert crafting the application architecture and design with a focus on standards, performance, flexibility, scalability and security, as well as supporting the implementation of the solution.
  • Provide validation of proposed technical architectures and solutions.
  • Monitor and analyze production performance, while looking for ways to optimize and scale existing solutions.
  • Evaluate product and process metrics (such as speed of delivery, quality, usability) and implement process improvements
  • Ensure strategies, standards, and architecture are consistent and well-integrated across different product teams by creating and engaging in communities of practice.
  • Help application developers to adopt new platforms through documentation, training, and mentoring

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Information Technology or related field
  • 10 years of full-lifecycle application development experience and at least 3 years of experience using the technologies listed below and AWS cloud platform
  • Experience in architecting and designing solutions and decompose them into modules for development
  • 5 years of experience using Agile, DevSecOps, Test driven development and other lean methodologies
  • Implementation experience on using Agile project management tools (JIRA), and CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration, testing and deployment.
  • Experience developing cloud native solutions according to industry best practices
  • Extensive hands-on experience in JavaScript (React.js, Typescript, Node.js, modern JavaScript libraries - ES6 - 2015 and later versions), API development (GraphQL/RESTful), microservices design and development, messaging and event-driven architecture (kafka, AWS kinesis or others), serverless application development using AWS Lambda, SQL and NoSQL databases, AWS services ( Lambda, S3, Dynamo, Kinesis, RDS, Redshift and several others).
  • Experience in establishing source code management best practices (branching, repository structure, peer review process, documentation) to manage a code base as if it were open source
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present and comprehend technical details clearly. Must be able to demonstrate product demos to users and stakeholders, collect feedback and implement improvements.
  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to complete a GSA Public Trust security investigation

In compliance with pay transparency guidelines, the annual base salary range for this position is $130,000 - $170,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. T-Rex considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
