Career Opportunity
We are currently seeking candidates for an Assistant Program Manager (APM) position, located in San Diego, California. This position serves as T-Solutions’ manager for Port Engineering Program personnel in San Diego, California, Everett, Washington, Portland, Oregon, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Changi, Singapore and other locations as required. The primary function of this role is to ensure Port Engineers and Combat System Port Engineers are properly trained and mentored, follow U.S. Navy maintenance policies as well as T-Solutions’ policies and have the necessary materials to do their job.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Mentor Port Engineers
- Practice PE Standard Day
- Facilitate Peer Reviews
- Monitor PE Performance Metrics
- Communicate issues, foster adoption of best practice and lessons learned with DPM, APMs and PEs
- Participate in daily ship visits
- Communicate
- Own initiatives and priorities of T-Solutions
- Own initiatives and priorities of LSPEs
- Provide input to DPM for CDRLs
- Recognize BZs and employee successes
- Train
- Encourage developmental training
- Attend performance-relevant Government meetings and required T-Solutions’ meetings
- Recruiting
- Supervise Port Engineers
- Performance Evaluation
- Timekeeping/Expense Reimbursement
- Understand and resolve employee issues
- Develop and research tools to improve efficiency of PEs
Travel:
- This position includes quarterly travel to Fleet Concentration Support areas.
- Travel to OCONUS locations no less than quarterly.
- Located at waterfront near LSPEs.
Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required:
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent
- A Bachelor’s degree in Management or an Engineering/Technical field is preferred
- Level III or higher PE/CSPE Certification or can be obtained within one year of employment
- Proficient in MST, VSB, NMD, eDFS and Microsoft Office
- No less than 2 years as a U.S. Navy Port Engineer
- Performance metrics consistently above average
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or can be obtained within 9 months of employment
- Demonstrated organizational skills, initiative and ability to work independently
- Excellent communication skills
Qualifications
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License
- Must have reliable transportation to and from various work locations
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to frequently traverse stairs, fixed ladders and ladder-wells while walking ships on a daily basis
- Wherewithal to spend several consecutive days at sea while underway as needed
- Capable of sitting for long periods of time, standing, walking, crouching and kneeling
- Reaching, handling, using equipment, keyboards and mobile devices
- Lifting boxes (files and supplies) up to 20 lbs
