What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Credit Analyst position at TAB Bank?
Senior Credit Analyst will review, analyze, and adjudicate small to medium-sized business (SMB) loan applications, from a diverse set of industries and from borrowers nationwide. The Senior Credit Analyst will work with many different areas of the Bank, including portfolio managers, legal documentation specialists, collateral specialists, and funders, in addition to third-party referral sources. This position requires building strong interpersonal relationships with both internal and external customers. Advanced customer service skills and attention to detail are a must, as seamlessly handling multiple tasks at once will be expected.
The ideal candidate will understand bank processes, possess the ability to work with limited supervision, possess excellent communication skills, and have the desire to innovate and improve processes at the Bank.
Daily responsibilities include reviewing, analyzing, and adjudicating SMB loan applications, preparing credit summaries, and representing those summaries for approval, and managing the funding process after the loan is approved.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Effectively use credit skill sets, experience, and knowledge to underwrite transactions and to make credit decisions.
- Analyze financial statements and ratios, business/product cycles, industry risk, management strengths and weaknesses, historical and projected operating performance, cash flow coverage, and credit reports, to develop an assessment of the credit risk and determine credit worthiness.
- Prepare financial statement spreads upon review of tax returns and financial statements to assist in evaluating financial condition, operating trends, and repayment/cash flow capacity of prospective borrowers.
- Analyze personal financial statements and income tax returns of prospective individual guarantors.
- Correspond verbally and in writing with prospective borrowers to gain an understanding of business practices and processes.
- Prepare credit summaries and present for approval.
- Effectively utilize credit approval authority up to assigned amount.
- Communicate loan decisions to prospective borrowers and explain the reasoning behind those decisions.
- Support the transition from approval to funding for each approved loan request.
- Ensure compliance with bank policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics and/or related field of study, or comparable work experience
- One to two years’ commercial credit experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
- Utilize software packages including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Review and analyze various third-party credit reports, tax returns, financial statements, and bank statements to recommend sound credit decisions.
- Work effectively with limited supervision, be very proactive, and juggle multiple tasks at once.
