POSITION: Extrusion Supervisor
JOB SUMMARY: Directly supervises employees in the Extrusion Dept. Carries out supervisor responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and discipline employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Ensures all employees are following safe work procedures.

Must break down barriers that exist between functions. The Finishing Superintendent must recognize the worth of every employee and remove barriers that prevent employees from performing their best.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints. Ability to write routine report and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to groups of employees. Ability to use computer system such as e-mail, EPICS, and Microsoft software.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Checks all paperwork to ensure Operators and Inspectors have proper working copies.
- Assigns and assists all Operators and Inspectors in extrusion and quenching.
- Maintains professional communication with all supervisors and co-workers to ensure an efficient and safe operation.
- Follows all policies and procedures as outlined in the QS9000 Operating Manual as they relate to the job function.
- Coordinates production and distribution with policies, principles, and procedures established by Plant Manager.
- Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of machines.
- Studies production schedules and estimates requirements for completion of the job assignment.
- Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations and takes disciplinary action when necessary.
- Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
- Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Develops plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.
- Reviews production costs and product quality and modifies production programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of the plant.
- Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase productivity of shop, department or work crew.
- Analyses and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
- Maintains time production records.
- Requisitions materials.
- Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
- Performs activities of workers supervised.

- Individual is familiar with lockout/tag out and other safety related issues associated with this job title.
- Demonstrate ability to communicate with all employees, customers, and vendors through a contemporary style that values the input of everyone.
